I bring you felicitations of the season from the editorial desk of our esteemed journal and from the editorial board. This is the 2nd of our biannual edition for 2018. As promised, this edition is filled with intellectually stimulating articles relevant to the practice of orthopaedics both within Nigeria and internationally.

This edition features nine articles, six original articles and three case reports. While case reports are no longer as fashionable as before, ours deal with exciting orthopaedic scenarios such as lumbar percutaneous disc decompression (part of an ongoing series promised to this journal), hip disarticulation following parenteral narcotic abuse and the often missed seat belt syndrome.

Our original articles also deal with topical issues such as a 5-year assessment of functional outcome of hip replacements in our environment and non-union treatment outcomes in South East, Nigeria. This edition also contains an article on the attitude of orthopaedic surgeons to the E-patient. One must confess that we are experiencing a progressively increasing number of E-patients in our various practices.

On behalf of the National Officers committee (NOC), we also wish to congratulate zone on the successful hosting of this year's annual general meeting of the Nigerian Orthopaedic Association which held in Lagos. The journal is hopeful of publishing proceedings from this conference in the January 2019–June 2019 edition of the journal.

Once more, we wish you all a Merry Christmas.
